Ion Exchange |
Different anionic and cationic organic and inorganic compounds can be removed from the water by ion exchange. This is done by employing resins that attract the opposite ion and bind them to their surface. Thereafter, once the resin is saturated, it can be regenerated by percolating the appropriate chemical through it. This technique is popular for the removal of nitrates, sulphates and chlorides.
